I find it amazing how almost everyone has picked a side, even with virtually no information about those involved or the actual events. What's more is how those people will defend those views, even to the detriment of others. Thanks for a more balanced view!
Look, HN beside cheating online has cheated a lot OTB. He cheated in the Sinquefield Cup, he is cheating in the US champ. He cheated in RD.1 to Crush 15 y.o.GM Christopher Yoo. He cheated in RD.2 vs. Xiong until he stopped the demolition playing Bg4? probably thinking that a 2/2 would be too much for the chess world to bear. Yesterday he didn't cheat vs. Shankland or at least the minimum to draw the Game. Let's see today, nobody knows what he has in mind. Finish the tournament in a dicent position or just boldly, go for the Champ.
A new direction is needed for cheat detection and cheaters. It has to start with someone, and somewhere. If Magnus doesn't speak up, we would still be in the status quo. Hans is not a scapegoat. He's the straw that broke the camel's back. If you're looking for apt cliche.
