I have been a big fan of his podcast series for several years now. I was just listening to one of the recent episodes today! Condolences to his family. He was a an amazing complexity thinker and GameB pioneer. I had a few conversations with him over the last few years. He will be missed.
Sigh. Another friend gone. I knew it was coming but I'm sorry to hear it, and that Jim and I didn't have another chance to talk.
Jim was a strange blend of cantankerous and kind. He was an unabashed “kids these days” Boomer but I somehow got along with him regardless, probably because he was bullet proof and welcomed debate. The man definitely walked the talk as far as his commitment to free speech is concerned. I'll never forget his roast…and how everyone there was like, “What the hell even is GameB, man? It has to be more than a meme.”
Well…I think he heard us.
Earlier this year he gave me a glimpse of his career-consummating series of essays on GameB that brought the whole thing into focus in a deeply necessary way.
I was excited and grateful he'd decided to spend the rest of his life giving back in this way...now I pray that his family, once they've had time to process their grief, can make good on this and release whatever unfinished parts of it they can.
I am more than willing to help. If there is anything I can do as an editor or illustrator (our last correspondence was about him hiring me to provide the figures), I'm there.

Oh no, his last podcast was uploaded just 3 days ago. His podcast was one of the gems! RIP Jim, you will be missed!
